JavaScript is not currently enabled, but is required for full CodeSonar manual search and browse functionality.

If you are viewing this file in your hub's Web GUI, enable JavaScript in your browser: you will also need it for GUI functionality.

If you opened this file directly from disk, your browser may be directly suppressing JavaScript functionality: certain browsers perform this suppression on local files (but not files delivered by web servers) for security reasons.

If you access the manual through the hub's Web GUI, the functionality will not be suppressed because the hub is a web server.
Alternatively, your browser may allow you to explicitly disable the security setting that suppresses functionality. See the CodeSonar FAQ for more information.

Features

This version differs from CodeSonar 2.0p1 in the following ways:

CodeSonar now operates independently of CodeSurfer, so only one install needs to be done.

On platforms other than Windows, there is no longer any installation process. The product should just be untarred.

New parameters offer:

SUPPRESS_ALL_*: The ability to suppress an entire class of bugs from the conf file instead of the suppression file.
NEW_FAILURE_BEHAVIOR: A specification of what is expected to happen when a new operator fails: throw an exception, return NULL, or failure is impossible.
FUNCTION_MAP: A way to say that a function behaves exactly like another. This is convenient for specifying functions that terminate execution of the program.
CLUSTER_BUGS_BY_STARTPOINT: Disable clustering of bugs by start point (use only end points).
REPORT_IMPLIED_EQUALITY, REPORT_IMPLIED_INEQUALITY: Finer control over whether implied equality or inequality is enough evidence to conclude a bug exists. This can significantly reduce false positive rates.
ERROR_LIMIT_PER_COMPILATION, MINIMUM_GOOD_COMPILATIONS: Whether to complete the analysis in the face of many compile errors.
TEXTUAL_OUTPUT_USES_ABSOLUTE_PATHS: The choice of using absolute paths or just basenames in the textual report.
SUPPRESSED_PATH_SUBSTRING: Suppression of reports whose absolute filenames contain specified substrings.
IGNORE_CPP_CODE: Ignore C++ code.

Line count metrics for the files that were analyzed are shown in the HTML output and written to a file.

A new compiler model for the ARM Real View Compiler Tools C/C++ compiler.

The mechanism for specifying suppression of reports is now more tolerant of changes to the code.

When multiple definitions of a function occur (e.g., as with inlined functions in header files), all definitions after the first are discarded.

Rvalues that are volatile are now treated as if their value is unknowable.

Models for some Linux kernel functions have been added.

Several performance improvements have been implemented.

False positive rates for 'redundant condition', 'unreachable code', and some other bug classes have been improved.

A number of miscellaneous bugs have been fixed. These address:

The modeling of new[] has been improved.
Native character encoding in the HTML output.
HTML hotlinking has been improved.
A performance bottleneck that occured when source files were moved after compilation.
Compatibility with internationalized versions of gcc.
A number of crashing bugs have been resolved.
